about

this song is, on the surface, about a girl who hears the high-pitched ringing/frequencies from all the technology around her and wants to unplug for a bit. but the underlying message behind it is that the world is constantly moving, life in modern American society is always moving from one thing to another. it's a message that kind of relates to the people who live that life, and how they sometimes get overloaded and need a break. lastly, the most important yet probably most subtle point of the song is that she goes to God to calm her down when everything seems like it's falling apart, and he provides a person to be the physical comfort God knows she needs.

lyrics

She's constantly hearing a ringing
from the phones to the TV to the radio
she hears its frequencies...

One day she'll get away
from all the sounds of the people
She'll grab her keys, pack her things
but she'll only be gone a day
See, she's been having too much stress
she's silently screaming inside
But the woods so calm and cool
it slows her mind

While she's constantly hearing a ringing
from the phones to the TV to the radio
she hears its frequencies
But when she's in the forest
there's nothing there...
that creates frequencies

She'll take a break from the people
though she loves when they're around
She's gotta take a break from all these things
she's gonna go into the woods
She'll be one with God's creation
he'll talk to her when she talks to him
He'll slow down the world around her
and give her peace of mind

While she's constantly hearing a ringing
from the phones to the TV to the radio
she hears its frequencies
But when she's in the forest
there's nothing there...
that creates frequencies

Sometimes the trees,
they burn up to their leaves
And nobody sees
when they're watching their TV screens
She can't be free from all the frequencies
if there's no trees...

She'll scream and cry, asking God why
He'll tell her it's just a lesson for life
She'll calm back down and read his Word
He'll pull her close, he'll comfort her
And on those days that she can't escape
the frequencies that she faces
She'll turn up the radio and drown out the world

Sitting in her home...
Sitting all alone...
Until the man that God gave her
comes through her door with his
arms stretched wide
He's got his jacket that she loves
and wraps her in a long, tight hug
Whispers in her ear
'It will be okay'

And just for a moment
he drowns out all
of the frequencies...
